28.09.2020 – Girls in the slums have huge challenges due to the lack of sanitary towels.
Also in Langas slum , the 2nd biggest slum in Kenya, the problem was recently highlighted in the media. As part of our health activities in our project areas in Eldoret and Bungoma county, Making More Health has donated 165 packets of washable sanitary towels each containing 3 pcs of pads to the girls, living in Eldoret, to alleviate the distress girls go through during their menstrual periods and give them the confidence and comfort during this time.

For this reason our partner organization SOLASA (SOLWODI LADIES SPORTS ASSOCIATION) has organized a youth event where 185 girls attended. The aim of the event was to train girls on menstrual hygiene which included use and maintenance of the washable sanitary towels and also give them the washable sanitary towels. The girls also used the event to play friendly matches against each other in preparation for October football tournament which is also organized by SOLASA. The theme for this year’s tournament is “My Health My Responsibility” Slogan “Kick Out Corona Virus” this theme was necessitated by the current situation where the World is facing the Covid-19 pandemic.
