Special moments, a little of Christmas stress here and there, but also joy, peace, family time and food without borders – that’s how many of us have lived the past days.
From our communities living at the poverty line Kenya I received also some impressions full of joy, but also sadness:
Christmas art and food in Mukuru slums

As Shakur says:“ … we created safe space for teens and children as well as painted mosaic wall of Xmas tree 🎄 In the streets of Mukuru slums.

Since a few weeks VICCO gets weekly vegetables from a local supermarket and distribute it to more than 160 people.

In Webuye, in Westen Kenya, with the support of Making More Health more than 2200 people benefitted from the Christmas bags. Our MMH center volunteers had prepared them and distributed to the most needy. Especially to the aged people, single mothers and people with albinism and their families in our communities. In the bags we had food items, hygiene articles and some sun milk for our people with albinism

However, the need for support and especially long term change is big. Whether in the children homes, in the group of people with albinism, single mothers or also simply families in need.
“There is this case of one of our people with Albinism whom we made a xmass gift of shelter. He had no house at all and with a family he has been facing alot of challenges…we opted to make a home to this family. Now they will have what they call a home and a house although it is just a beginning…,” says Chrisantus, our local partner in Webuye.

And Kioko’s case. He lost his home during a fire in Mukuru slums. He is one of our young people at Vicco.
“..he lost his belongings through fire which left him with nothing a part from the clothes he was wearing. Today I give him clothes and he’s sleeping at safe house currently…,” reported Shakur.
