What happens when teachers in underserved communities receive hands-on AI training instead of only theory?
We recently conducted a practical AI training with volunteer educators through System Changer Network Kenya, focused on real classroom use of tools like ChatGPT and Perplexity — for lesson preparation, research, and student support. Teacher feedback was clear: this is not abstract technology — it is already improving daily teaching practice and learner engagement.
We also openly discussed risks and limitations of AI. Insights from our survey last year confirmed something important: beyond device and internet access, what matters most is practical application — how to write good prompts, how to use examples, and how to translate AI into real classroom value.
One of the strongest moments was hearing teachers explain how AI support saves time, builds confidence, and helps explain complex topics even where resources are limited.
