As System Changer Network in Kenya and in India we are convinced that cultural topics and exchange are essential to build partnerships and successful empowerment together with our local NGOs and vulnerable communities. Therefore, we run regularly cultural exchange club sessions. Each time with the focus on a different topic.
On 22 October 2025, the SCN Cultural Exchange Club hosted a vibrant session exploring the power of music as a universal language. With contributions from local NGO leaders and communities in India and Kenya, the event highlighted how music serves as:
- An icebreaker – easing conversations and creating instant connections.
- A community builder – strengthening bonds and fostering shared identity.
- A cultural storyteller – expressing values, struggles, and celebrations across generations.
From traditional rhythms in rural Kenya to grassroots music initiatives in India, participants shared how music plays a vital role in education, healing, activism, and joy. The exchange sparked meaningful dialogue on how melodies transcend borders and bring people together.
