Two years ago, in the heart of the Langas slum in Eldoret, a quiet but powerful transformation began: the creation of a small library at the Solasa Community Center, part of the System Changer Network (SCN) Kenya.

For many children and adults here, books have always been rare treasures. In most homes, there’s no money to buy them — sometimes even schoolbooks remain out of reach. But every book holds the power to open new worlds, spark imagination, and ignite hope. Through reading, children and adults begin to dream, ask questions, and believe in their own potential — they stop being bystanders and start seeing themselves as creators and changemakers of tomorrow.
Today, our small library has become much more than a room filled with books. It’s a space of discovery, belonging, and connection — a place where people come together to read, share, and imagine. The spark in their eyes when they discover a new story is simply priceless.

For the teachers at our Solasa Center, where we also run a school, the library has become an invaluable resource. It helps bring creativity and curiosity into the classroom, giving students access to knowledge far beyond school walls.
A heartfelt thank you goes to everyone who has donated — from children’s storybooks to textbooks, novels, and biographies. Your generosity is transforming lives and inspiring a new generation of young learners who now see education not as a duty, but as a door to opportunity.
Through SCN Kenya, we continue to connect local initiatives, different funding partners, and organizations across sectors to co-create sustainable solutions — fully aligned with SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals.
If you ever visit Eldoret, make sure to stop by Langas. The sound of children reading aloud is one of the clearest signs that change is happening — quietly, beautifully, and one story at a time.

At the moment, our small library holds about 400 books. Our goal is to build more of these reading spaces across our network locations.
